There are many types of contraceptives available to prevent pregnancy. The most commonly used is the condom and the contraceptive pill. The most effective, close to 100%, are vasectomy and tubal ligation; these method are meant to be "permanent".

Other methods which are not used as often are Intrauterine devices (IUD), DPMA Injection, Transdermal Contraceptive Patch and the Diaphragm.
