The uterus, or womb, is where the embryo is implanted, and where the
fetus develops before birth. It is shaped like an upside down pear, small in
size outside of pregnancy. During pregnancy, the uterus expands,
as the fetus grows.
The lower part of the uterus, the cervix, joins the vagina.
